What if the world as we know it were color blind

Then maybe when black guys dated white girls her parents would not mind

What if they didnt classify us as Blacks but instead non-whites

I mean we all the same color if you turn off the lights

What if slavery were taught to kids more in depth

What if George Washington wasnt a hypocrite, he had slaves himself

What if African Americans were just as important as Caucasians for once?

Then probably Katrina victims would have received help just as fast as 9/11 sufferers

What if a black man were finally elected president

Would history reverse and whites would feel our pain and torment

What if descendants of slaves finally received reparations

Would we feel it was proper compensation, or would our feelings towards whites still be hatred?

All these questions I ask for the ones who wont take the initiative to stand up

These thoughts and ideas cross my mind everyday

Id put a stop to all racial issues, if I was presented with a way

An opportunity to end present day slavery

Its not the other man that enslaves us we enslave ourselves

Taking hand-outs, not working for what we want

Im tired of being looked down on; Im tired of kissing their tails

I have love for everyone, even those who do think Im related to a monkey

Im going to keep doing me, Ill be great one day, Youll see

I think you're too tied down by what you see and hear...There were African Americans in 9/11...and the Katrina victims knew a hurricane was coming...it also wasn't the president's fault that help didn't come soon enough...it wasn't his responsibility...I know you didn't say anything about the president but many consider that it was his fault. If anything it was the red cross and other emergency relief groups. I'm glad that you feel that you need to do something about this. It is a problem but it isn't the 'white man' keeping you down...it's your own inhibitions...just lose them...rise up and let people know who you are...what you're here for...just my opinion!

Okay honesty right, um I agree with boo and ebony, but to be honest we as black people need to let go of the past to move on to the future, white people are not the enemy as well as any other race. As black people who want to be treated fairly we sometimes put a lot on get reperations and revisting the hurt and tourment of slavery. Yes slaves were done wrong, yes in the past blacks have been treated unfairly but why hate, them for the past. we are not slaves now. And it is not just white parents that get mad when there daughter is dating a black guy. My parnets dont like the fact that i had a lot of white guy friends that I liked and even dated, but they know that they caint hate them or me for the chose i make. I understand where you are coming from because those thoughts came to me and sometimes still do but its our job as well as everyone elses job to stay educated, because then people will respect us more, and take us seriously. Thats just what I think I love all people black, white, asian, hispanic and arab and everything in between. but anyhoo good piece, I like your writing I just wish you didnt focus on race and how unfairly "we" are being treated, I am 100% with black pride but I am also 100% every other race pride because no one is better then anyone from the U.S to Scotland.

It's good and I agree with you that people shouldn't be classified by race.
I also really like the 'we're all the same color when the lights are off' and ' What if the world as we know it were color blind'

I don't like racists, they're so ignorant.

Once again, I like it. (However, you did succeed in making me feel bad for being white and all. ;.; Now I'm all paranoid about people of other races hating me because of mine.) ^.^;;

also if someone is nasty to a black person theres this whole uproar about racism but if a black person was nasty to a white person that isnt always classified as rascism, i mean why is that?

it's called reverse racism. I applaud the University of Michigan for doing away with racial profiling, but I'm disgusted that society thinks it should be allowed anywhere.
