The New Drawing on the Right side of the Brain

A "teach yourself to draw" book by Betty Edwards. It provides instruction on all the basics of drawing and I'm not sure what to say about it other than it works.

Before I read it I drew a Self Portrait. Clearly, I suck.

I'm almost finished reading it and here's my self-portrait now. That's what I actually look like.

If you want to learn to draw realistic pictures (not just portraits) without spending a lot of money on a drawing class, I heartily recommend this book. Well worth the 20$ I paid.

It's awesome. And the depressing part is, if I do get the book, by the time I finish all the lessons, I'll probably be able to do as well as you did before you read the book...

Haha, I have to say the same for me. Even if the book was magical, I could never draw a human nose, much less a straight line.
