Ok, so I know there are both Marilyn Manson AND Nine Inch Nails fans on this site, so let's debate. This is Marilyn Manson vs. Trent Reznor in terms of talent, political views, messages, and all around good looks. I want to hear what you have to say.
Personally, I'm not sure if I could choose, but I think if I had to, it'd be Manson. I love his music and political views AND he's dead sexy (said by a completely straight guy). Reznor is great, but other than in his music, I really haven't heard him talk about his political views that much. But that's just me.

Hmmmm... well lets see...
They both have practically NO musical talent. The both fed a pseudo-goth culture that leads up to emo. They both sold out like a motherfucker at their first chance.
I'll say Manson. Why? Clever fucking name, I'll give him that. And I enjoy hearing him in interviews... just not his music. Sooo cliched.
Buuut on the other hand Trent Reznor, although alot less politically active and aware, DEFINATELY makes better music. So I'm split. Someone convince me.

Manson has more style--granted it's creepy--but it's stronger.

Both of their music sucks, but Manson isn't a dumbass too, so I'll vote him.

Well, while I hate to sway anyone in this topic, I'd have to sway you towards the Manson side.
Marilyn Manson is one of the last true rock stars. Why do I say this? Because Manson refuses to look like everyone else like all the other bands out there are. He upholds the classic ideals of the rock star: drug addiction, political outrage, and degrading women. He fights for his ideals, even if he fights alone. He's also lasted so long in the music business even though so many people have sold out on him. So choose him. Yeah.

Oh goody, degrading women!
Last rockstar? What does that even mean? There are so many different diverse types of "rock stars". You yourself don't know what it means because you stole it from a crap magazine.
And besides, Manson clings to the old ideals of shock. Shock no longer works in a culture as desensitized as our own. Someone as smart as Manson should realize this. You really wanna shock people these days? Be sincere. Not sarcastic, not ironic, not cynical. Sincere.
Manson is doomed to be just another footnote in pop history. He, like so many others, is blinded by his ego and self-glory. I know I know how hypocritical(no pun intended) of me to say this. The difference is I'm not in a position ot sway thousands of fans. HE is. He let the public down.

Nine Inch Nails, Reznor with Year Zero, is so fucking creative.
I could care less about Manson, never listened to his stuff and don't want to. If he died, I'd laugh...hard
I even laughed out loud, when you put he's a last true rock star..That's hilarious!

This is no contest, seeing as fundamentally, Trent Reznor created Marylin Manson. I'm serious. Manson wouldn't be around if it wasn't for Reznor. So, whoever voted for Manson is a silly person.
Yeah, but I don't like either of them.

First off: Tie, I fully admit I'm a silly person =]
Moving on...
I picked Manson simply because he's a ridiculous bastard that can make me laugh in his interviews. His entire career is built off him BSing faux-goths, and that I can respect.

I'd have to vote Manson. I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I actually enjoy his music, the lesser cliched stuff anyways. I also think in some ways he's an intellegent person. Hate his clothes though, I swear he doesn't have a face under that make-up, like if you wash it off there's gonna be nothing there.

I agree with Eds.
Trent Reznor, definately. He's not a freak, for one, and Nine Inch Nails had like...one song I liked.

Oh, and I'd like to add that I actually enjoy Manson's cover of 'This Is Halloween'.
So laugh if you wish :D

Well..none of that changes the fact that Marylin Manson is Trent Reznor's gift to modern music. and i'm still bitter about it

I don't like Manson's music at all. NIN have a couple of good songs, but to be honest I don't really care for either of them.
I accidentally voted for Reznor! But one vote really goes to Manson. I just admire his views and his ideals. They're unique. And his music style is so original and gothic... He's a cool icon of rock. :) We are disposable teens!!!

^BUT TRENT REZNOR basically CREATED him. Why is no one listening to me? Never mind that Trent Reznor laid his carreer on the line so that Manson could get a record deal.

I know what you mean, Mr. Tuxedo. Reznor DID create Manson. He didn't put anything on the line by doing it, though. Reznor was big enough that Interscope wouldn't have done anything if Manson had sucked. But I still think Manson is better. He's outspoken, his music is great (in my opinion) and he's so damn pretty (hehe). But especially in terms of their new CDs, Manson's music is better. I kind of liked Survivalism, but that was like the only song I liked on Year Zero. I love Eat Me, Drink Me. So yeah.

True. But whatever he is, he knows his makeup really well.
I agree. And his videos are creepy in cool ways. Like dressing up as the pope or that freaky "Beautiful People" video. All those creepy machines were awesome! :D

Yeah, "The Beautiful People" is my favorite video. The only other one that comes close in my opinion is "Rock Is Dead."
